Wat Tyler Country Park 2000-2100: 3 Greenshank, 1 Green Sandpiper, 2 Little Ringed Plover,
2 Bearded Tits (male and female), 1 Turtle Dove, 1 Cuckoo. Steve Hiscock.
Newport (north-west Essex): 1,410 Swifts South in 2 hours also 1 Green Sandpiper
and 1 Yellow Wagtail south, 2
Sparrowhawks and 3 Kestrels. Stephen Patmore.
Great Amwell: 2 Hobby being seen off by 1 Common Tern and at
Fishers Green lvp. a Common Tern dive bombed a Heron till he
flew off. Also Reed Bunting Reed and Sedge Warblers, Chiffchaff,
Common Whitethroat, Blackcap, Green Woodpeckers, and a Kingfisher. Dave Messenger.

Vange Marshes 17:20: Ruddy Shelduck (this bird has some strange features suggesting it might not be a pure bird - most notably
its white head and dark streaking on the centre of the crown and nape), 3 Ruddy

Minsmere: Roseate Tern reported still present at 12:05 from South hide.
For Information: At Needham Market, Suffolk, an escaped Ruppell's Griffon
Vulture was reported to the BTO by an observer who had seen the Happisburgh bird on television on evening of June 20.

Abberton Reservoir: There are fabulous point-blank views of Common Terns (31 pairs) nesting on the raft at
Abberton. The raft is grounded right outside the Scott Hide. This Has to be one of the best bird spectacles at a

Great Amwell area: A look around the area produced a total of 50 species including
Common Tern, Redshank, Ringed Plover, Blackcap, Common
Whitethroat, Sedge Warbler, Cetti's Warbler, Reed Bunting and
Cuckoo. Also a strange duck which
looking in the ref. book looked like a Wood Duck. Dave Messenger.

Oystercatchers, 2 Fulmar
together, 2 Guillemots + 9 Auks sp. (but probably Guillemots), 22 Gannets,
12 Common Scoter, distant
raptor probably Marsh Harrier, Common & Little Terns,
Cuckoos, 2 Little Egrets, Mixed flock of c150 Sanderling
